Pioneering Clad Plates and Explosive Welding Since 1962

Since the 1960s, Shockwave Metalworking Technologies has been at the forefront of explosive welding and clad plate production worldwide. This breakthrough enabled reliable joining of dissimilar metals and creation of high-performance clad and bimetallic plates. These engineered solutions deliver enhanced strength, corrosion resistance, and performance across demanding industrial and energy applications worldwide markets sectors.

Innovation in Clad Plates Manufacturing

Founded in 1962, Shockwave quickly established itself as a leader in premium clad plates and (electrical) transition joints. In 1985, we introduced our first vacuum chamber for explosive welding, boosting efficiency while minimizing environmental impact. Today, we operate three advanced vacuum chambers, including one of the largest in the world. This capability enables production of clad plates measuring up to 30 m².

With over 60 years of expertise, Shockwave continues to expand globally, delivering advanced engineered solutions such as bimetallic and trimetallic transition joints (TRIPLATE®), electrical joints (Triconnect®). We also supply cryogenic transition joints (CryoClad®), tube sheets, and heavy-duty clad plates for the most demanding industrial applications.

Our Technological Journey

At Shockwave Metalworking Technologies, we’re not just part of the industry,  we’re pushing its technical boundaries. Since our foundation, we have quickly evolved from a traditional metalworking firm into a world-class innovator in cladding technology. Over the years, we’ve refined our processes, introduced vacuum explosion welding techniques, and built ever larger and more sophisticated facilities to meet the growing demands of our clients.

Our vacuum explosion welding process represents a major technological advancement. By bonding dissimilar metals under precisely controlled conditions, we’re able to deliver clad plates and transition joints that combine strength, durability, and resistance to extreme environments. These aren’t just improvements for today; they are foundational solutions for the future. As critical industries like petrochemicals, shipbuilding, and power generation demand ever more advanced materials, our specialized welding process is readily answering that call.
