Triconnect®
The Leading Trimetallic Triconnect®Joint
Thanks to Shockwave’s patented vacuum explosive bonding technology, Triconnect® ensures a clean, oxide-free metallurgical interface that delivers stable electrical performance, exceptional mechanical strength, and a long service life—outperforming conventional welded or bolted solutions.
Designed for the Most Demanding Electrical Applications
Triconnect® electrical transition joints are used in critical energy and power-generation systems where joining dissimilar conductors is essential. Typical applications include:
- Medium- and high-voltage substations
- Transmission lines (ACSR, ACAR)
- Equipment with steel or copper terminals connected to aluminium cables
- Photovoltaic and wind-power installations
Whether in onshore substations, offshore wind farms, or large-scale renewable plants, Triconnect® ensures low electrical resistance, minimal energy loss, and outstanding thermal-fatigue performance, delivering reliable operation year after year.
Proven Performance and Total Quality Control
At Shockwave Metalworking Technologies, every Triconnect® electrical transition joint undergoes rigorous non-destructive testing (NDT) and metallurgical inspections in full compliance with international standards for metal bonding and power-transmission components.
Each plate is verified for mechanical strength, corrosion resistance, and dimensional accuracy, guaranteeing flawless metallurgical integrity even under extreme electrical or environmental stress.
This commitment to quality ensures that every Triconnect® joint installed in the field performs exactly as designed—efficiently, safely, and consistently.
Materials and Multilayer Structure
Each Triconnect® electrical transition joint features a three-layer configuration engineered for optimal conductivity, strength, and long-term durability:
- Base layer: Stainless steel or carbon steel— provides superior mechanical resistance and structural stability.
- Intermediate layer: Titanium ASTM B265 Grade 1 — serves as a metallurgical bridge between dissimilar materials.
- Top layer: High-purity aluminium alloy 1050A — ensures excellent electrical conductivity and compatibility with aluminium conductors.
This multilayer architecture provides a stable and secure electrical transition between metals, maintaining high conductivity under extreme thermal cycling and mechanical loading.
Key Advantages of Triconnect® Electrical Transition Joints
Triconnect® sets the standard for efficiency, safety, and reliability in high-performance electrical systems:
- Maximum strength and durability withstand temperatures up to 600 °C, surpassing the world’s toughest standards.
- Consistent electrical efficiency maintains low, stable resistance under extreme load and environmental conditions.
- Extended component lifespan prevents premature failures and reduces unplanned shutdowns.
